Artefact

Artefact is an Android application based on augmented reality technology, designed to organize individual tours of various museums in Russia. This utility allows you to reveal interesting facts about the exhibits on display.

Museums and exhibitions

Using similar methods as the Anna Akhmatova AR application, with the help of this utility it is possible to quickly locate exhibits or collections of historical treasures by specifying their name. A separate tab contains lists of current exhibitions and available museums. There is a function of using geolocation for automatic search or the ability to view the list of available places yourself. After activation, the application provides a compilation of recommended exhibitions to explore. It is important to remember that before visiting a museum with a particular exhibit, you should download the archived materials of that exhibit. These contain installation images, tags, metrics, and data necessary to identify the object. With the help of the provided exhibition materials, it becomes possible to identify art objects and historical finds even in offline mode. It is enough to open the app, point the camera at the object and make a selection. It is possible to scan the exhibit, the QR code underneath it or manually enter a digital code. This application has the ability to reduce the impact of noise and restore the image partially hidden by other visitors or objects. After analyzing the available data, the utility displays text information about the object on the screen and provides access to other related materials.

Excursions

Each exhibition in the app is provided with a detailed description and a catalog of images of the exhibits. The photos have round marks, which, when tapped, can be used to get more information about a particular item. Each image is accompanied by an audio recording that replaces the role of a guide. After listening to the audio recording, you can immerse yourself in the history and features of the artifact or art object. A small dictionary is built into the app, providing definitions of key terms. Through the settings menu, you can select the language of the tours and interface. It is important to note that some exhibitions and related information are available exclusively online.
