Description

The Vidalia Bundle program works in tandem with the Tor browser and is designed to protect against Internet surveillance. The program uses a non-standard graphical interface, but users quickly get used to it.

Configuring the program

While working in the network, the application changes the current IP address according to a certain algorithm, blocking the ability to track activity with the help of special software. This guarantees a high level of privacy even when working through a public network. It is the IP address that is often used by services to determine the current location of the user. Modern databases allow you to do this quite accurately, down to the district of the city or street. Often this information is also used to display advertising. A separate panel displays the current channel bandwidth and other service information. For maximum protection, you should specify the port 127.0.0.1:9051 in the settings. To prevent the request window from being displayed every time you enter the program, just remove the corresponding checkbox (located directly in the window with the message).

Program Features

The main functionality is to maximize protection against tracking by third parties. It is worth taking into account that only the Tor program is supported. Before you start working, you need to enter the settings and make a number of changes. In the "Server" field, you need to specify the value 127.0.0.1, the "Port" parameter - 9050. In some situations, the utility may issue a warning about the need to update Tor, in this case it is recommended to go to the official website and download the current version.

Advantages of the utility

  • simple and convenient interface;
  • the application functions together with the Tor browser and provides IP change;
  • other browsers are not supported;
  • the start page displays information about the current bandwidth of the channel being used;
  • a number of settings must be made before using the utility.
