Alcohol 52

Alcohol 52 is a Windows application for working with optical disks and images. You can mount images to virtual drives. Note that the function of writing data to optical disks is not provided.

Creating an image

You need to insert the required optical drive and select it in the main program window. It is possible to specify the image format and select a directory for saving. You can also set the data reading speed. Reducing the speed allows you to avoid possible reading errors, which is important for inexpensive disks or in case of scratches. If errors appear during the reading process, it is recommended to activate the function of deep sector scanning and skip blocks with errors. In many cases, this mode allows you to read data correctly.

Virtual Drive

The application allows you to emulate a drive for quick connection of images, MDS and ISO formats are supported. The number of virtual disks can be customized. To mount images, just double-click on the desired file. The new disk will appear on the corresponding panel together with other drives. Operation is similar to a standard drive - you can run autorun, extract or open with Explorer.

Network access

The program also allows you to share files that are located on an optical disk. The iSCSI protocol capabilities are used to implement this feature. At the same time, access control mechanisms are provided. You can limit the maximum number of connected users, prohibit viewing or writing data, and so on.
