Fing

Fing is a Windows application for quick diagnostics of available network connections. Both wired and wireless networks are supported. All necessary tools are provided, including a route tracing module.

Scanning

It is possible to check for third-party connections to the current network infrastructure. This allows you to detect the presence of suspicious equipment or intruder activity. For wireless networks it is quite difficult to detect such connections visually, as the territory is not limited by the boundary of an apartment or house. If the password is relatively weak, it is possible to unnoticeably connect to another person's router. Detailed information is displayed for all detected devices - device type, MAC and IP. It can work in the background and send notifications when a third-party connection is detected. This eliminates the need to check manually.

Testing

The diagnostic module allows you to check ping, packet sending and receiving speed. The end host can be entered manually or selected from a list. The generated report can be saved to a file.

Troubleshooting

The program can help at the stage of identifying the source of network connection problems. You can find errors and get a set of recommendations on how to fix them. The application functionality allows you to initiate tracing of arbitrary routes, scan ports, find the optimal DNS and much more. If these checks are performed manually, it can take quite a long time and does not always lead to positive results.
