QGIS

QGIS is an interactive geographic data environment distributed under a "Free Software" license. The cartography is characterized by increased detail, with the ability to update in real time. Software functionality: view, edit and create geographic maps. QGIS provides a wide range of tools to choose from, the ability to multilayer modeling, and the ability to add plug-ins.

Basic settings

QGIS works correctly with vector and raster images. The user can easily download satellite images and images obtained as a result of processing by third-party software. The developers offer to use ready-made maps, for example, from an open graphic editor - OpenStreetMap. The functionality of additional tools involves the layout of projects, creating a selection of objects, adding signatures, projecting "legend", uploading ready-made maps to the network. For fans of large projects, there is access to automatic reprojection of location, with the possibility of imposing a geographic grid.

Platform compatibility

The software is divided into modules: editor, browser. The browser allows the user to monitor finished maps, write comments, set labels. Quick access tools (sidebar) allow you to zoom, rotate the plane (by the number of degrees), change the viewing angle. QGIS provides the ability to instantly switch between the map editor and viewing in a browser. The software is adapted for Microsoft, Linux and Mac OS operating systems.
