Description

Tor is a software that helps users to become anonymous online and protect personal data from theft. This solution has already gained sufficient popularity all over the world. Among the users you can find both public people who do not want to make their private life public, and ordinary people who are concerned about their own safety and personal data security. Tor Browser Bundle is a package of utilities that can provide full-fledged operation of Tor technology. What the bundle consists of:
  • Firefox browser;
  • Vidalia graphical shell;
  • Tor.
Web-browser contains a variety of add-ons, each of which has its own purpose:
  • Torbutton - triggers anonymous information exchange.
  • NoScript - blocks certain scripts on pages.
  • HTTPS Everywhere - used to force the use of HTTPS protocol on visited sites.
This software helps users to hide
  • physical location, by substituting a real IP address for a nonexistent one;
  • history of visiting resources.
The utility is also capable of preventing possible surveillance from various resources or users (both ordinary users and representatives of special services). In short, Tor provides its users with absolute anonymity. The program also opens access to sites that are on the country's sanctions list. Tor gives access to a hidden network, whose connections are established strictly between trusted peers, using non-standard protocols and ports, in other words, to darknet. The interface of the program is Russian-language, does not have any paid licenses and versions, it is possible to install on a device with Windows operating system at least XP.

Disadvantages of the program

1. Internet provider (or someone else who can monitor traffic) may realize that the user is using Tor, and this may have its consequences, so it is better to strengthen the disguise. 2. The TOR network uses ordinary computers, so the transfer rate is very slow.

Key features

  • distributed on a free basis;
  • uses an anonymous data transfer system;
  • provides an opportunity to uncover the secrets of the darknet;
  • Internet connection speed is unstable and, compared to other browsers, very slow;
  • several very useful extensions provide a higher level of security.
