Hosts Editor

Hosts Editor is a mobile client that allows you to create and edit hosts files. It should be noted that you can access the main functionality only if you have Superuser rights. The software is designed for portable Android devices.

Interface

On the main page of the application, users will be presented with a full list of hosts files that are contained in the memory of the device. By means of special icons, these files can be deleted and adjusted. In the upper part there is a search bar, through which you can quickly and without unnecessary movements find the hosts file of interest. Next to the developers placed an icon that allows you to create a new file of this type. Among the additional functionality it is worth noting the presence of a pop-up menu, through which you can:

• rescan records;
• highlight the entire list of hosts;
• familiarize yourself with the details of the application.

Advantages and disadvantages

The software is provided only for free and has an open source code, which can be viewed on GitHub. As the developers assure, the application has no advertising in any form. It should be noted that the application is fully functional even on earlier versions of the Android operating system, and also supports symbolic links. Among other things, IPv6 compatibility is implemented. During the tests, the utility worked more than properly, and advertising was really absent. But do not forget that for the full functioning of the software you need Superuser rights.
