STM32 ST Link

STM32 ST Link is a Windows application for programming popular chips. There are two modes of operation - classic graphical interface and command line. It is necessary to physically connect a special programmer, which will ensure correct interaction between the PC and the chip. At the same time, the application allows you to automatically recognize the type of connected module, which simplifies work in general.

Connection

After installing the program, you need to connect the board to a free PC port and only then open the main utility. Then you need to specify the active port for data packet transmission and wait for the message about the correct recognition of the device. In case of success, information about the connected board model, the exact firmware version and other service data will be displayed to facilitate the work.

Programming

Before writing a new firmware it is necessary to initiate memory clearing. To do this, just open the "Target" menu and activate the "Erase Chip" option. To load a new image, activate the corresponding item of the main menu and specify the path to the BIN or HEX file through the explorer window. There is a built-in data editor that allows you to open the firmware contents in a convenient format and make changes. The "Program" button starts the process of writing the prepared data set. There is a possibility to compare two firmware versions with each other beforehand, as well as to use the mode of automatic search for errors in the code.
