Msconfig

Msconfig is a system utility for Windows that allows you to customize various startup settings for the Windows platform. You can control the applications that are allowed to auto-boot, customize the mode of services and much more.

Installation

By default, this component is already part of the operating system. But, as with any application, various problems can occur with it. This can be accidental deletion by the user, virus activity, software or hardware failure. To eliminate the problem, it is often enough to manually reinstall the module. You need to select the file according to the platform bitness, change the name to msconfig and copy the file to the C:WindowsSystem32 folder. Next, be sure to reboot the system for the changes to take effect.

Usage

Most often the utility is used to configure the platform boot parameters and solve various problems at the initial stage of power-on. It is possible to quickly disable minor applications, which allows you to free up hardware resources. It is possible to boot in safe mode, which is often relevant for solving various software failures. In this case, only the minimum set of drivers and applications is loaded. If a third-party application was added to the autoloader and prevented the correct launch, in this mode you can freely find and remove it. It is also possible to record all events in a separate log, which also makes it easier to find the source of the problem.
