Description

The file d3dx9_26.dll is a system library for Windows, originally part of the DirectX package (a popular development environment from Microsoft Corporation). The main purpose of the module is to process graphics data during the game. It also provides interaction of the video card with other subsystems of the PC.

Error

If the game cannot access this file during the launch process, it initiates a crash with a corresponding error. Most often the problems are related to malicious activity - viruses often use OS components at various stages of the attack. Other possible causes are accidental or intentional deletion by the user, software failure, or hard disk problems. First of all, it is recommended to check the antivirus log. If there was a false positive, you should manually restore the file from quarantine and add it to the whitelist to avoid being blocked again.

Reinstallation

The second method is to manually copy the original file to the correct directory. Depending on the platform bitness, it may be the C:WindowsSystem32 folder (32-bit version) or C:WindowsSysWOW64 folder. Administrator privileges are required for copying (this is for security reasons). If you are prompted to replace the file, you must accept it. Next, you must register the new library again. This operation is performed through the command line, using the construct "regsvr32 d3dx9_26. dll", to confirm the operation you must press Enter. After the message of successful registration appears, the PC must be restarted.
