Inno Setup

The Inno Setup utility for Windows provides the ability to create executable files for installing distributions. It uses its own scripting language, which can be used to define parameters for launching the installer. Several templates are available.

Basic features

To create an executable file, you can use one of two methods: use the step-by-step wizard or write a script manually. In the first case, you need to enter the application name, version, name and website of the developer. Then you need to select a directory to install the program. It is possible to allow the user to change the name of the folder. Next, you should select the distribution and auxiliary files necessary for the installation. Additional interface languages can be added to the application. In addition, there is an option to choose whether to run the program as a user or an administrator.

Compilation

When scripting is completed, compilation should be started, which creates a file with EXE extension. It is possible to verify the current version of the utility during installation, as well as the digital signature of its developer. The program provides the ability to use the integrated Pascal scripting language to configure advanced installation and uninstallation options for the application. A file compression option is available to make the installer more compact.
