ExifTool

ExifTool is a simple application designed to work with metadata. They are present in every media file, from videos and photos to audio recordings. With the help of the utility you can edit them, or delete them completely.

ExifTool is specifically designed to work with digital snapshots, video and audio. First of all, the application supports a really impressive list of formats. These include: NEF, PEF, CRW, JP2, CR2 (not all possible options are listed). The user can replace a few basic metadata parameters. For example, edit the name of the camera on which the digital image was taken. It is also possible to change the shooting location, date and many other parameters. Note that ExifTool functions from the command line, and therefore you will need to enter a special command to start it. One of the commands (Model, DateTimeOriginal, DateTimeOriginal, FNumber, UserComment) is entered into the command line and a parameter is set.

Features

To start making changes to metadata, the user needs to decide what type of file is open. Some files are open for viewing only, so there is no way to edit metadata. If the file is marked R, it indicates that the data can only be viewed. If it is marked W, the user can make changes. As mentioned earlier, the program can work with any metadata that is generated when creating a media file. If you plan to use the command line regularly, we recommend saving the most popular commands and their values to a text file.
