Description

File formats today are no longer created for a specific compression and storage technology, but tend to extend the capabilities of specific application areas. In medicine, for example, specialized data obtained from magnetic-electronic or digital patient examination devices are practiced. For access to which the corresponding software is needed at the output. RadiAnt DICOM Viewer is an application created specifically for viewing DICOM-PACS format files. The application is oriented to a specific user, all those who by the nature of their work are connected with medicine.

Working in the program

At first glance, a program designed for special content should have a high price, but the developers did not set themselves a commercial goal. They created their product completely free for distribution on the most popular user operating system Windows. There are only two significant limitations to which you should pay attention:
  • the program will work correctly starting with the XP version;
  • a russifier will be required.
Modern medical diagnostic equipment allows you to see the results of the examination not only on negatives and paper, but also on the monitor screen thanks to the RadiAnt DICOM Viewer (RDV) program. It should be taken into account that each field of medicine has unique data requiring its own type of DICOM format. The described application is able to work with almost all its types. Thanks to this, viewing of computed tomography, digital radiography, mammography and ultrasound diagnostics creates the most convenient conditions for research.

Features of RadiAnt DICOM Viewer

First of all, we should say about the presentation of information, there are two possibilities of data visualization here in color and as a monochrome image of organs. The application even works with compressed files. In addition to the actual viewing of images, it is important for a medical specialist to be able to accompany it with documentation. So this program allows you to keep parallel documentation, save it next to the file. It is also possible to make notes directly on the images. The operator of the program can view images and easily manipulate them on the monitor screen. That is, zoom or rotate, as well as compare several research results. In total, up to 20 images can be placed on the active window of the program simultaneously. The user of the program decides where and in what his processed materials will be stored. Simple conversion functions help to convert DICOM files into any popular graphic format, such as JPEG or BMP. However, in this case it is impossible to save a medical file with the notes of its examination.
